Information we collect
We collect the information you provide when you create or report a Battle, such as icons, selected App Store listing details, scenario text, email address and report details. We also keep management-link and moderation records needed to operate the service.
For voting and abuse prevention, we create a visitor identifier in a necessary cookie and store one-way hashes derived from that identifier, IP address and user agent. We use these hashes to limit duplicate votes and abusive activity; they are not displayed to Battle owners or other visitors.
We record limited event data such as a Battle view, vote, share action, App Store visit, approximate locale and associated pseudonymous visitor hash. Payment-card information is handled by Paddle, not by IconBattle.
How we use information
- Operate Battles, deliver private management links and send necessary service emails.
- Moderate submitted icons and text, investigate reports, prevent fraud and protect the voting pool.
- Calculate directional results, Battle-owner metrics and community statistics.
- Process and activate First Look placements after Paddle confirms a successful payment.
- Maintain, secure and improve IconBattle.
Service providers and disclosures
We use service providers that process information for the purposes above: Supabase for application data and storage, Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection, Resend for transactional email, OpenAI for content moderation and Paddle for payment processing. App Store search and destination links use the relevant app-store services.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce these policies, protect people or the service, or address fraud, security or intellectual-property claims. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and retention
IconBattle uses necessary, HTTP-only first-party cookies named ib_visitor and ib_creator. The visitor cookie normally lasts up to one year and the creator cookie up to 30 days. They support vote integrity, creator limits and ownership checks.
We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, dispute handling and service records.
Your choices
You can avoid submitting a Battle or payment information, clear browser cookies through your browser settings, and contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information associated with your email address. Some requests may be limited where retention is required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance or a pending dispute.

Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. The current version will always be posted on this page.
